Each year the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) hosts a survey where they interview Australians about their attitude and behaviours towards alcohol. The "2019 Annual Alcohol Poll: Attitudes and Behaviours" has just been released. The current report shows that 9 in 10 Australian drinkers consider themselves “responsible drinkers”, despite the fact that half of Australian drinkers drink to get drunk; that fewer than half of the people surveyed were aware of the link between alcohol use and stroke, breast cancer and mouth and throat cancer; and that 38% of Australians have been affected by alcohol-related violence.
