NAS is more common in babies born to opioid dependent women particularly methadone, heroin and buprenorphine.1 It may also occur in babies following prolonged post-natal drug exposure e.g. postoperative analgesia. This guideline is applicable to neonatal drug withdrawal from any substance, licit or illicit.
