Please note: This workshop is available for Queensland-based AOD frontline practitioners based within Queensland Health or a non-government organisation funded to provide specialist AOD psychosocial treatment.
The 2-day CBT 4 AOD Workers: Foundation Skills workshop focusses on the basics of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and its application to people who are seeking help to address problematic alcohol and other drug use. CBT is a goal-focussed, flexible and time-limited therapy approaches which guides people in becoming more aware of their thinking, feeling and behaviour patterns, and enhance skills to support and maintain goals for change. This workshop is targeted towards AOD and mental health workers who provide counselling and who wish to build their knowledge and skills in the essentials of CBT.
By the end of this workshop learners will be able to:
Day 1: Wednesday 22nd March, 9.00am - 4.30pm;
Day 2: Thursday 23rd March, 9.00am - 4.30pm.
The workshop incorporates facilitated presentations, simulated video demonstrations, problem-based group activities and a range of written and oral practical tasks. For post-training support, a Toolkit containing key resources for the practice of ‘CBT 4 AOD’ is made available to learners.
