TARGET AUDIENCE:Health practitioners who are able to prescribe or dispense monitored medicines and access QScript.
MODULE TYPE:Elective
MODULE AIM:This module will introduce the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 (MPA), and the subordinate Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Regulation 2021 (MPMR) in relation to Queensland’s real-time prescription monitoring system, QScript. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the impacts and benefits of QScript to their practice.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Understand key differences between the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 as it relates to prescribers and dispensers of monitored medicines.  
  • Identify and classify monitored medicines under the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019.
  • Understand the purpose and benefits of QScript in relation to the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019.
