This session is for peer support workers in designated roles who might consider drawing on their own lived or living experience of alcohol and/or other drug use in their work. It will be facilitated by lived experience educators with an understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges of self-disclosure around AOD use in peer work. You’ll take part in a private reflection activity using the Insight AOD Self-Disclosure Decision Making Tool. You will have the opportunity to reflect on a story from your own direct experience—the focus is on your personal journey, not that of a family member or significant other. You won’t be asked to share your story with the group. Instead, the activity offers a chance to explore the considerations around self-disclosure in a work setting and apply them to your own context.
The following is required for this session:
To receive a Certificate of Attendance you are required to stay for the full duration of the practice session and adhere to the above points.
Please note these workshops are brief training sessions and entry will close 5 minutes after the start time. If you arrive after this time, you can rebook another session through the Insight website. Please be on time to ensure your participation.
