COURSE NAME:BRIEF INTERVENTIONS FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
LEARNING LEVEL:Training for Non AOD/MH workers
TARGET AUDIENCE:Workers in all healthcare and community service settings - including those employed in statutory and welfare contexts - where smoking, alcohol and drug use, and physical and oral health may be an issue, but may not necessarily be the primary or sole focus of your role. 
Note: It is recommended you complete the "Introduction to Brief Interventions for a Healthy Lifestyle" eLearning to give you a foundation of the skills applied in this module.
MODULE TYPE:Elective
MODULE AIM:This eLearning will help you to discuss weight, nutrition and physical activity with your clients or patients and apply the 'Ask, Advise and Help' skills to support them to improve their health.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • understand the importance of optimal nutrition and physical activity throughout the lifespaN
  • apply brief interventions (3-step model) to support your clients to change their health behaviours around nutrition and physical activity
  • identify support needs for priority populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people with chronic health conditions.
  • list resources and further learning to support the use of brief interventions.
LENGTH:1 hour
CPD:This module may contribute towards CPD. A Statement of Completion will be issued on completion of this module.
