The aim of this module is to equip workers with a basic overview of how substances work in the brain to produce psychoactive effects.
|LEARNING OUTCOMES:||By the end of this module, learners will be able to:|
- Describe brain basics, including the functions of each part of the brain.
- Describe what a neuron is and how neurotransmitters works.
- Identify which neurotransmitters are released by particular substances as well as their effects on the brain and body.
- Describe the reward pathway in the brain and how it is reinforced through repeated behaviour.
