MODULE AIM:The aim of this module is to equip workers with a basic overview of the different ways substances are ingested and associated concepts related to how the body processes them.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of this module learners will be able to:

  • Describe key concepts such as route of administration, onset of effect, bioavailability, peak concentration, drug half-lives and elimination. 
  • List each route of administration, describing how it determines the way a substance enters the bloodstream to reach the brain.
  • Describe the benefits and risks of each of the most common routes of administration.
