MODULE AIM:The aim of this module is to provide workers with knowledge and skills on how to conduct a brief intervention for smoking.  
LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • describe the effects of smoking, including the health effects of second- and third-hand smoke. 
  • apply brief interventions to support clients to change their health behaviours to quit smoking.
  • describe how to use a carbon monoxide monitor with clients for immediate feedback on their health.
  • describe the use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and medication to support quitting.
  • list resources and further learning to support the use of brief interventions.
LENGTH:30 minutes
CPD:Participation in this activity may contribute to CPD. A Statement of Completion will be issued on completion of this module.
