MODULE AIM:This module aims to increase the learner's knowledge and understanding of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) as a particular sexual health risk, as well as the interplay between risk perception, risk taking, and harm reduction.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Describe in simple terms STI symptomatology, testing, treatment, and contact tracing. 
  • Describe the foundational aspects of STI risks, and harm reduction and prevention. 
  • Discuss concepts relating to risk perception and risk behaviour. 
  • Discuss harm reduction and prevention strategies with a client, while maintaining awareness of barriers to having safe sex and accessing sexual health services.
