MODULE AIMThis module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge required to safely and effectively prescribe buprenorphine-mono (Subutex®) and methadone for the treatment of opioid dependence.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • identify suitable patients for buprenorphine-mono (Subutex®) and methadone
  • initiate treatment with these formulations
  • manage patients prescribed with these formulations
  • know where to get extra support

    NB: This is the third module in the QOTP prescriber course. Successful completion of all 3 modules and completion of a clinical placement shadowing an experienced Level 1 prescriber is required to apply for authorisation as a Level 1 Full QOTP prescriber (authorised to prescribe all opioid dependence treatment medications available in Queensland).

    Completion of this module is not required if you are only seeking to apply for authorisation as a Level 2 - Specified QOTP prescriber. 
    Do not commence this module if you have not already completed the first two QOTP modules as it assumes prior knowledge and theories contained within these previous courses.

This module is accredited for:

  • 0.5 hours of Educational Activities with RACGP; and
  • 0.5 hours of CPD with ACRRM.
