NADA - Comprehensive Assessment and Care Planning

The NSW Clinical Care Standards for Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment (AOD Standards) were published in 2020. They outline the core elements of care that underpin treatment processes within NSW alcohol and other drug treatment services.

This module will focus on standards two and three from the AOD Standards:

  • Standard 2 – Comprehensive assessment
  • Standard 3 – Care planning.

This module is intended for clinicians working in Alcohol and Other Drugs treatment services. It is targeted toward new and existing nurses, doctors, allied health staff, Aboriginal AOD health workforce, AOD workers and peer workers.

The aim of this module is for you to be able to:

  • apply the components of a comprehensive assessment in relation to the Clinical Care Standards
  • complete a substance use history, including identifying risks associated with substance use
  • develop a clinical formulation
  • create a care plan in collaboration with the client, and where relevant, their family and/or friends and other service providers.

This module will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
