MODULE AIMThe aim of this module is to provide an overview of how the ethical principle of 'autonomy' gives rise to specific ethical and legal obligations in practice.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • describe the key elements involved in obtaining valid informed consent
  • explain the concept of confidentiality and privacy as well as ways they can be managed
  • distinguish between a therapeutic boundary crossing and a boundary violation
  • use a model promoting the maintenance of appropriate professional boundaries.

Please Note

This is the second in a series of seven modules introducing learners to ethical principles that can be used in practice. It is recommended that learners complete Modules 1 - 7 in sequence as concepts build from module to module.
