MODULE AIMThe aim of this module is to help you have safe, respectful, and effective conversations about trauma.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module you will be able to:

  • explain why talking about trauma matters and the potential consequences of avoiding the topic
  • recognise common barriers workers and clients face when discussing trauma
  • respond safely and supportively to trauma disclosures using practical communication strategies, applying principles of trauma-informed care
  • identify signs of unhelpful disclosure patterns and support clients to share in safer, more manageable ways
  • adapt trauma conversations to meet the needs of specific populations
  • reflect on your personal practice and consider ways to improve trauma-related conversations in your day-to-day work
