MODULE AIM:Completion of this module will enable practitioners to manage the challenges of having honest conversations with their patients.This module provides participants with a theoretical understanding of how to engage in challenging conversations and avert communication breakdown through implementing micro-counselling skills.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Identify skills that are paramount in the practice of de-escalation.
  • Recognise and employ strategies to support saying no.
  • Identify and apply self-care measures post-honest conversations in practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and confidence in addressing the topics of dependence, tolerance and deprescribing with the patient.
  • Demonstrate collaborative approaches to patient care.

CPD:

This module is accredited for:

  • 0.5 hours of Educational Activities and 0.5 hours of Reviewing Performance with RACGP;
  • 1.0 hours of CPD with ACRRM.
