MODULE AIMThis module is the third in a 4-part series of eLearning modules focusing on motivational interviewing (MI). This module aims to provide the worker with an understanding of three key aspects of MI: evoking 'change talk', responding to 'sustain talk' and 'discord'.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • utilise a range of strategies for evoking change talk
  • use 'Confidence and Readiness Rulers' to evoke change talk
  • recognise sustain talk and know the techniques for responding to it
  • recognise the signs of discord in the working relationship with a client and how to prevent it increasing.
