Harnessing the power of the lived experience voice

by Insight

This presentation provides an introduction to peer and lived experience work in the AOD sector. It will describe the importance of this workforce group as well as key challenges they face from an individual and organisational perspective. It will also provide an overview of recent research regarding the demographic and professional profile of AOD workers with lived and living experience, as well as priorities for how the sector can best support these workers into the future.

Victoria Kostadinov is a Senior Research Officer at NCETA. She holds a Masters degree in Organisational Psychology, and her research interests include the social determinants of alcohol and drug use, and particularly the role of the workplace.

Jack is a recovering drug user and addiction treatment professional. In 2014 he founded Real Drug Talk, an organisation which seeks to change the perceptions around addiction so that stigma can be reduced and eliminated, allowing individuals affected by addiction to gain hope and help without fear of judgement and consequence.
