It contains an overview of the 'spirit' of MI and some of the core skills and techniques it entails.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • understand the elements that make up the spirit of MI: partnership, acceptance, compassion and evocation
  • understand how to show empathy through the use of reflections
  • build knowledge of the core interviewing skills of MI: open questions, affirmations, reflections, and summaries
