This presentation is based on eight months of in-depth ethnographic fieldwork with people engaging with methamphetamine recovery in South-East Queensland. As the principal researcher, Sam conducted multiple qualitative interviews with each participant and accompanied them to visit loved ones, doctors, counsellors, recovery services, lawyers, parole officers, and drug dealers, to understand the rich context of their lives, and what factors shaped their trajectories of use and recovery.
Dr Samuel Brookfield is a postdoctoral research fellow at the UQ School of Public Health after recently completing his PhD research with people engaging with recovery from harmful methamphetamine use. Sam is also a registered nurse.
