MODULE AIM

This module provides participants with the theoretical understanding and the evidence behind the benefits of opioid rotation.  

This module will provide an evidence-based approach to assist the practitioner in managing patients for whom an opioid rotation would be beneficial to the long-term outcomes of their treatment.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • summarise the current evidence for the utility of opioid rotation
  • identify the benefits of undertaking an opioid rotation
  • assess and manage risks in relation to opioid rotations
  • calculate an approximate opioid equianalgesic dose
  • choose and calculate appropriate opioid alternatives applying rational prescribing principles.
