MODULE AIM:

This module provides participants with the theoretical understanding and the evidence behind the benefits of opioid rotation.  

This module will provide an evidence-based approach to assist the practitioner in managing patients for whom an opioid rotation would be beneficial to the long-term outcomes of their treatment.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Summarise the current evidence for the utility of opioid rotation.
  • Identify the benefits of undertaking an opioid rotation.
  • Assess and manage risks in relation to opioid rotations.
  • Calculate an approximate opioid equianalgesic dose.
  • Choose and calculate appropriate opioid alternatives applying rational prescribing principles.

CPD:

This module is accredited for:

  • 1.0 hours of Educational Activities and 0.5 hours of Reviewing Performance with RACGP;
  • 1.5 hours of CPD with ACRRM; and
  • 1.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 1.5 CPD credits) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan which can be converted to 1.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 3 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities with APC.
