Released Offender Alcohol & Drug Support (ROADS): Providing treatment on release

Almost half the mortality of ex-prisoners has been identified as being a result of drug related causes with many of these deaths occurring in the first month. The ROADS program trials the option of a multi-session telehealth program with initial contact provided within 48 hours of release addressing substance use, mental health and overdose.

Heidi Deifel-Carlino is a senior counsellor with Adis. Adis 24/7 Alcohol and Drug Support provides 24-hour confidential telephone support to Queenslanders with alcohol and other drug concerns, their families and health professionals. 

Michaela Boyce is the Project Officer for the ROADS project and counsellor with Adis 24/7 Alcohol and Drug Support.
