TARGET AUDIENCEAll AOD, Mental Health and SEWB workers, as well as staff required to complete the module to meet requirements under your employer's Authorised Alternative Supplier arrangement.
MODULE AIM    The aim of this updated module is to educate health workers on how to recognise and respond to an opioid overdose and deliver a brief take home naloxone (THN) education session with clients.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • identify people who are at increased risk of an opioid overdose
  • recognise the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose
  • outline how to provide first aid in the event of a suspected opioid overdose
  • deliver a tailored take home naloxone (THN) brief education session with a client, consumer, patient or family member/carer.

    Please note: To be assessed as competent for this training package, you must achieve 100% correct responses in both quizzes in this module.

    NB: Completing this module does not automatically grant you personal approval to possess or supply naloxone in Queensland. However, evidence of the completion of this module can be used by your employer as part of your organisation’s internal authorisation and compliance procedures with Queensland Health.
