SCOT Project: establishing a sustainable model of shared care for opioid treatment

The Shared Care for Opioid Treatment (SCOT) Project has developed a model of service for the shared care of opioid dependence treatment. The model seeks to enable alcohol and drug services to provide timely access to tertiary care for complex and high-risk clients by providing clients stable in their treatment ongoing care in a setting more appropriate to their recovery and promoting client autonomy.

Tracey is a nurse with 10 years’ experience in Corrections, OTP, Dual Diagnosis and drug and alcohol treatment. She has a post grad in Addiction and Mental Health and is passionate about ensuring this often vulnerable population receive the best possible care in a manner that normalises treatment and reduces stigma. Pete is a nurse with 18 years’ experience in alcohol and drug services. He has worked across opioid treatment, withdrawal services, and needle and syringe programs as well as education and training, regulation and policy.
