Stepping Stones Program – the family perspective

by Insight

Affected family members (AFM) play a critical role in supporting a relative experiencing substance dependence, yet are often marginalised by stigma. This research highlights the importance of educating health professionals on family inclusive and anti-oppressive practice and challenges systemic and culturally embedded discrimination against individuals and families affected by substance dependence.

Anna Daglish is a Family Support Worker with Family Drug Support and has recently undertaken a Masters by research dissertation with the school of Human Services and Social Work at Griffith University, with a particular focus on the experience of families who participated in the Stepping Stones Intervention.
