This video explains the Stages of Change model. In the early 1980s, researchers - Prochaska and DiClemente developed the Transtheoretical model or ‘stages of change’ as it is better known. The Stages of Change model is a useful guide for understanding the process of change, for example why some people may not be interested in making changes to their use, whereas others might be trying to stop. Understanding a person’s stage of change can help tailor and match interventions that are person-centred and meaningful.
