This presentation will outline the emerging literature on transdiagnostic mechanisms in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. Emotion regulation, impulsivity and high levels of reward seeking have all been discussed in the literature as possible transdiagnostic mechanisms to be targeted in treatment. Petra will discuss the advantages and challenges of this approach and will propose a model of how these universal mechanisms can be targeted in treatment within the AOD service system.
