Alcohol remains the most common problem presenting to drug treatment services in Australia. National Guidelines from 2009 are currently under revision and this presentation will describe the changes relevant to clinicians.
Paul Haber is a physician specializing in addiction medicine and gastroenterology / hepatology. He is Clinical Director for Drug Health Services for the Sydney Local Health District. Paul has been a staff specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital since 1998. He is a Foundation Fellow and past President of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Chapter of Addiction Medicine, a conjoint Professor at the University of Sydney. Paul is lead author on the Australian National Guidelines for Treatment of alcohol problems.
