Target audience: Queensland based workers in any role across healthcare and community settings who are supporting individuals impacted by problematic alcohol and/or other drug use.

This workshop equips participants with skills to support people in both preventing and managing relapse by introducing a flexible, person-centred planning framework and a tailored conversation approach that adapts to their evolving needs.

What will be covered:

  • The purpose of relapse prevention and management (RPM) and its essential components.
  • How to adopt an appropriate RPM stance to support tailored and engaging conversations.
  • Constructive approaches to averting and addressing lapse or relapse, which encourage continued service engagement.
  • Using a flexible framework to guide RPM conversations effectively.
  • Recording RPM plans to reflect a person’s needs and preferences while meeting service requirements.
  • Updating and adjusting RPM plans to align with a person’s evolving goals and circumstances.
