Workshop
This session is for peer support workers in designated roles who might consider drawing on their own lived or living experience of alcohol and/or other drug use in their work. It will be facilitated by lived experience educators with an understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges of self-disclosure around AOD use in peer work.
The session involves taking part in a private reflection activity using our AOD Self-Disclosure Decision Making Tool. You will then have the opportunity to reflect on a story from your own direct experience, noting that the focus is on your personal journey, rather than that of a family member or significant other. NB: You won’t be asked to share your story with the group. Instead, the activity offers a chance to explore the considerations around self-disclosure in a work setting and apply them to your own context.
The following is required in order to enrol and participate in this workshop:
Please note: Keeping your camera on and actively participating throughout the session via microphone and chat is an essential requirement of this workshop, including in breakout rooms with other participants. If this is not possible you will be exited from the session out of respect to the other learners.
As these workshops are brief, interactive training sessions, entry will close 5 minutes after the start time. If you arrive after this time, you can rebook another session through our website. We recommend joining a few minutes early to ensure your participation.
To receive a Certificate of Attendance you are required to stay for the full duration of the session. Please ensure your availability prior to registering.
